Gandhaka Sudar thylam is a classical siddha medicine explained in ancient siddha text Aasthyar Paripooranam 400. Sudar thylam is a special preparation in siddha system of medicine. The ingredients of this medicine are grind with said juices or butter and paste it on a cloth ribbon. This cloth is twisted on one end of a metallic wick. It is then placed over a vessel and light it. Suitable oils like neem oil, castor oil, Ghee etc., are poured over the wick slowly as the oil travel down the burning end and drip into the vessel below. The process is repeated with the collected oil again until the material in the burning wick is completely consumed.
Agasthyar Paripooranam 400 is a ancient siddha text book by Sage Agasthyar. This book deals with the preparation methods of various siddha medicines for several diseases. The ingredients of Gandhaka Sudar Thylam are
- Purified Sulphur
- Salt Petre - Vediyupp - Pottasium Nitrate
- Purified Red Orpiment - Manosilai
- Sal ammoniac - Navasaram
- Purified Corrosive sublimate - Veeram
- Purified Yellow Orpiment - Thalakam
- Butter
- Ghee
This medicine can be taken with sugar in a dose of 2-4 drops twice daily. This will cure Leucoderma, Venereal and Syphilitic sores, Rheumatism, Gastritis, Eczematous skin lesions.
This medicine should be taken under strict medical supervision and while taking this, one should follow diet regimen like avoiding of sour and salt tasted food.
