CCIM REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON EDUCATIONAL REFORMS

Central Council of Indian Medicine(CCIM) conducted a regional workshop on Educational reforms in siddha at National Institute of Siddha, Chennai on 20th and 21st of October 2015.


The Central Council of Indian Medicine is the statutory body constituted under the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 vide gazette notification extraordinary part (ii) section 3(ii) dated 10.8.71. Since its establishment in 1971, the Central Council has been framing on and implementing various regulations including the Curricula and Syllabii in Indian Systems of Medicine viz. Ayurved, Siddha and Unani Tibb at Under-graduate and Post-graduate level. The Sowa Rigpa System of Medicine is included in the Central Council of Indian Medicine from the year 2012 as per Gazette Notification No. 2345 dated 16.12.2011. Now, all the Colleges of Indian Systems of Medicine are affiliated to various Universities in the Country. These Colleges are following the minimum standards of education and Curricula and Syllabii, prescribed by Central Council.

The president, CCIM, Dr. (Smt.) Vanitha Murali kumar chaired the workshop. Members of CCIM from siddha side participated. Director in-charge of National institute of Siddha, Principals and professors from different siddha medical colleges across India, representatives of different siddha associations/NGO's, and eminent personalities from siddha system of medicine are also participated.

External Therapies of Siddha Medicines

This book is a comprehensive guide for external therapies in siddha system of medicine written by Dr.T.Thirunarayanan and Dr.R.Sudha. It is published by center for traditional medicine and research (CTMR), Chennai, with the financial support of Dept. of AYUSH, Govt.of India.

While saying about the authors the CTMR is an unavoidable thing. Dr.T.Thirunarayanan is the present secretary of the organisation. Center for Traditional Medicine and Research (CTMR) is a 'not for profit organiszation' operational since 2000 with the objectives of mainstreaming traditional medicine in the area of public health, creation of awareness, capacity building by way of training, developing cost effective traditional medicine with natural resources and promotion of research in traditional medicine including cultivation and conservation of medicinal plants. The NGO works closely with different govt. departments, other institutions and organisations for the above cause. CTMR also runs a charitable siddha clinic for the urban slums particularly in costal regions of Tamilnadu.

Siddha CMESiddhamritham 1

Siddha Graduates Medical Association (SiGMA) conducted continuing medical education program on Siddha. National Health mission, State Program manager Dr. G.S.Balachandran Nair inaugurated the program. Dr. Haridas, State Program Mnager, National AYUSH Mission, Dr.T.Thirunarayanan, Dr.V.B.Vijayakumar and Swami Padmanabha were the dignitaries in the dais. SiGMA president, Dr.Vivek Andrews delivered the welcome speech and Secretary Dr.Shabel.P.V delivered vote of thanks.








The Classes were taken by Dr.T.Thirunarayanan, Secretary, CTMR (Center for Traditional Medicine and Research), Swami Padmanabha and Mr.Narayanan on External Therapies of Siddha, Pashana Medicine preparation and Panchapakshi sasthram respectively.
