SIVANAR AMRITHAM

Sivanar amritham is a Herbomineral Formulation explained in Siddha vaidya thirattu containing nine ingradients.  It is a 'Karuppu' variety of siddha medicine. 'Karuppu' the name derived from the black colour of the medicine.  The ingradients of this very special medicine are

1. Male fern rhizome

2. Purified mercury

3. Purified Aconite(Karunabhi)

4. Purified sulpher (Gandhagam)

5. Dry ginger (Chukku)

6. Black pepper (Milaku)

7. Long pepper (Thippili)

8.Purified Red orpiment (Manosilai)

9. Dehydrated Borax (Porith Vengaram)

The final product obtained by grinding for 7 days will be greenish black in colour and is in the form of very fine powder.

In 2006 Sudesh Gaidhani[1], M. Anantharaman[2], T.Thenammal², E. Krishnakumari² and G. Veluchamy[3] were proved the Pharmacological activities of this medicine such as  anti Inflammatory, analgesic and anti arthritic activity by their research. The data of which is published in 'Journal of Research in Ayurveda and siddha' Published by CENTRAL COUNCIL FOR RESEARCH IN AYURVEDA AND SIDDHA

According to Siddha vaidya thirattu this medicine is indicated in Rhumatic complaints, Respiratory diseases, Bronchial asthma, leprosy, Cholic, Delirium, Piles, Ascites and Tuberculosis.

This medicine can also be used as a snuff in cases of insect stings. 

Dose : 100-200mg with honey or ginger juice twice daily.

Special diet restrictions like avoiding alt and tamarind should be followed while taking the medicine.

KUNGILIYA PARPAM

Kumkiliya Parpam  is a plant based medicinal product in siddha medicine. This medicine is a Parpam variety of medicine. The resin obtained from a tree called Shala tree (Shorea robusta) 

The resin is processed in tender coconut water, dried and powdered. This medicine is creamy white in colour. 

Indications: Leucorrhoea, painful micturition, Urinary tract infections, gonorrhea, gastric ulcer, glossitis, stomatitis and dysentery

Dose : 200 to 500 mg can be given with ghee, butter or tender coconut water twice daily.

This medicine has haemostatic action also so this can be used as a dusting powder in wounds and cuts. This is also effective in bleeding piles and menorrhagia.

JALAMANJARI

Jalamanjari is a Chendooram type of siddha internal medicine explained in Siddha text 'Yugi Karisal'. Its ingredients are
1. Purified conch shell (Sangu)

4. Purified Lode stone (Kaantham)
5. Common alum, Dehydrated (Poritha padikaram)
6. Borax - dehydrrated  (Poritha Vengaram)

8. Purified Asbestos (Kalnaar)
9. Purified Iron Filling (Aya podi)
10. Salt petre (Vediuppu)

This medicines have a wide range of indications such as Obesity, Oedema, Anemia, chlorosis, swellings. For obesity, this medicine can be given with thriphala churnam and honey. The dosage of this medicine is 200 - 400 mg twice a day. The suitable adjuvants for this medicine are lime juice, hot water, tender coconut water , decoction of eclipta leaves, decoction of phyllanthus herb.
